Not all hive tools are equal — and if you’re working with polystyrene hives, a standard narrow hive tool can cause real damage.

This is Quarti Italy’s own original design, developed specifically to address that problem.

The L16 is a forged stainless steel hive tool with a wide, flat blade that distributes leverage across a much broader surface area than a conventional hive tool. That wider contact patch is what makes all the difference when working with poly hives and poly supers: instead of concentrating force on a single point — which can gouge, crack, or compress EPS foam — the broad blade spreads the load and lets you separate boxes cleanly without marking or damaging the polystyrene.

It’s equally at home on standard wooden hives, but it’s the go-to choice for anyone running a polystyrene setup who’s ever watched a cheap hive tool bite into the rim of a super.

The opposite end features a dedicated frame lifter with a hole — the standard notch for gripping frame lugs and breaking propolis-sealed frames free. That same hole doubles as a useful cleaning aid for removing propolis buildup from the blade itself.

Forged — not stamped — from corrosion-resistant AISI stainless steel, this tool is built to the same standard as the rest of the Quarti Italy range: proper tools, made to last.
