A clever alternative to a conventional flat nuc entrance disc, designed and manufactured by Mêl Menai.
This rotating entrance disc provides several entrance settings in one compact unit, including fully open, closed and ventilated positions. Its standout feature is the raised 3D entrance tunnel, designed to create a smaller, more restricted route into the nuc during periods of wasp or hornet pressure.
By reducing the size of the entrance and creating a longer, indirect passage into the colony, the defensive setting gives guard bees a smaller area to protect and can help make the entrance more difficult for wasps and hornets to penetrate.
Simply rotate the disc to select the required entrance configuration.

Wasp & Hornet Defence
Unlike a standard flat entrance reducer, the raised section creates a restricted tunnel into the nuc.
This doesn't trap or kill wasps or hornets. Instead, it is designed to help the bees defend their own colony more effectively by reducing and controlling the route through which potential robbers can enter.
Particularly useful during late summer and autumn when smaller colonies and nucs can be vulnerable to persistent wasp pressure.
